October drapes the world in gold,
A fleeting beauty, bright and bold,
The air is crisp, the nights grow long,
The wind hums low a harvest song!
The pumpkins glow on porch and stair,
With candlelight and autumn air,
Leaves tumble down in fiery streams,
A painter’s brush, a poet’s dreams!
The sky turns soft, a silver dome,
While flocks of birds take flight for home,
The year leans gently towards its close,
In October’s hush, the spirit knows!
So, let us walk these amber days,
Through twilight’s fire, through fading haze,
For every leaf that falls to earth,
Reminds us all of change’s worth!
