We throw words like sparks in the dark,
Pretending we do not feel the heat,
Every insult lands too close to the heart,
Every silence tastes too sweet!
You look at me like a question you hate,
Similar to a truth you won’t let be true,
But your eyes linger half a second too long —
And I know it is not just me versus you!
We fight like we are trying to forget,
Like distance will make it all clear,
But somewhere between the anger and breath,
Is a feeling neither of us can hear!
So, we stay on opposite sides of the line,
Throwing fire, pretending we are free —
While every war we start with each other,
Is just another way you look at me!
